Gets good strikes but just doesn't seem to keep them pinned the way I would like... |

Personally I simply run a few extra split rings (3-4 total) on the back hook which sets the hooks back about 1-1.5" and can make a big difference. I have also seen modifications where a piece of wire is twisted around the front hook holder and then snakes through the back hook holder and can be then stick out as far as preferred. It was a friend who used this modification and maybe he will chime in and explain it in more detail. |

| Brian,
Bucktail wire looped from the front hook hanger, extended and slightly bent through the rear hanger, and finally looped. Add a split ring and you're good to go. The tail rarely hangs up, too. (See Yake Bait's mod in the link provided by IaJustin's post). |

Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | As well as most I have hook up issues with this bait as well. It is one of my favorite lures to work, can do a lot of different stuff with it. Though I have hooked and landed fish on this bait, I have also lost some very nice fish that should have made it to the net and didn't. I will be modifying mine as shown above, but I am curious for the guys that used them prior to moding them and after moding them. If you were to take a guess what would the increase percentage be for landed fish once they were modified?? |

| Another option is to loose the back hook all together and hang a 7/0 off the front and "T" it out for max gap. This is a Bob Turgeon trick I use and it works well. |

| I always find this mod kind of humerous.
I hardly throw them anymore but a few years ago they were my go to bait. Caught a good number of fish on them and honestly can't recall ever losing one. Although I know it can be pretty annoying when the hooks tangle together.
Does anyone just take the rear hook off, and maybe upsize the front hook slightly? (Nevermind, Mojo beat me to it.) |

Location: Denmark | I started trowing them last year, and have had no hook up issues. But as Anonymous mentioned, the hooks somtimes get tangled, but not really a big issue. But Bstein's solution looks very neat :), might try that. |
