So I drove down to kinkaid this morning only to find out the marina was iced in on this 50 degree day. I probably could have tossed my anchor off the docks for at least 20 minutes to make a path, ice was maybe .5 inch at its thickest. I decided to wait till tomorrow and try again but I wanted to ask here if anyone had an ice breaking tips or strategies.

I could have just put the boat in but I would have had to back troll to break the ice and that didn't seem like a good plan. I have a 1750 fishhawk if it matters.

I usually have my buddy back me in while I stand on the back with a net or spud bar and hit and brake the ice while he backs me in than I have him stand on the back and brake it up just enough till I can turn the boat around than I pop her into gear and just go nice and slow till hitting open water be careful of ice flows it can ruin your day in a hurry

I didnt have to break ice to launch but did encounter some sheets that were so thin that your line could break through it lol. No muskie on the day, water was 38 degrees at its hottest

Be careful of angry ice fisherman! Some may try to kick your ass for ruining the launch!

Still ice on the 19th by the report we got.
Was planning on fishing today but we canceled because of the hazards.
Cabin Fever is starting to set in.

This for sure,..... Then just use the 12 Gage until you can turn the Bow into the ice.... then take the AR with about 3 clips and "Make" your path.......
come on,.... it's only 1/2 inch of ice.....
If it freezes before you get back to the dock, and your out of Lead, your pretty much Screwed.

Have fun at all costs.

I once lost the license plate off my trailer due to backing into ice.
