I think most guys making thru wire cranks are routing a groove for the wire with the bait in half, then bending and placing the wire in the groove and lastly epoxying the 2 halves together. The wire will have bends/loops going down out of the belly for any belly hooks and will be looped at the tail for a tail hook.

| Look thru posts by Kingfisher as he has the thru wire down pat. He has a main wire thru from nose to tail and then has wire loops as droppers for the rings and hooks. He also uses eyes on the smaller baits. Thru wire is tough to do, practice. Mine never look good, in the lip area anyway. Many use eyes as when they are anchored in with 2 ton epoxy. they are past strong enough. As long as the wood is solid and sealed, they wont pull out. Good luck. |

| I make my lures with two pieces of balsa wood and after I bandsaw the two halfs to the shape of lure, I bend the wire with round nose pliers, gouge out a hole in ea. half for a weight and sometimes a rattle. Then I use gorilla glue to glye the two pieces together. After 4 hours I carve and sand the lure. After I either put foil on it or paint it, I then glue in the lip with super glue and put two coats of Flex-coat to seal and get a nice glossy finish. Flex-coat needs to dry overnight for ea. coat. |
