Posts: 753 | I question where you get some of your info Kam.... To the best of my knowledge people extend the rear hook out to accommodate larger hooks and so they do not foul on the cast. Doing this also gives a larger area to get hooks into the fish's mouth.... All this being said in my experiences... standard sized Shallow Invaders do best with one 7/0 that has been T'ed out. there is no need for the rear hook. (IMHO)

Posts: 410 Location: With my son on the water | I can't speak for the 7/0 hooks but this is how we added the wire, the main reason for us was to prevent them from tangling. I may be in the minority but the shallow invader is not high on my list. So although I have thrown it a bunch, I don't throw it much anymore. Brad PS: Sorry I can't get the picture to post. Not sure why, I have resized it 3 times but I am still getting prompted it is too big. I'll try again....... ![]() PS again: Got the picture to come through, don't ask me how as I didn't do anything different? Attachments ---------------- ![]()

I think what the OP is referencing is something Bob Turgeon had a tech tip on in MH. He ran a wire from the front hook hanger, leaving that hook in place, ran the wire around the back hook hanger once and then attached a treble about 3/4 of an inch to an inch back from the rear hanger and as others said, it was to prevent tangling of the hooks. No problem with the rear hanger, just the hooks too close together.

Posts: 866 Location: NE Ohio | i have also had good luck by adding a couple of split rings to the rear hook hanger, then re-attach the rear treble, then stick one of the hooks of the treble into the rubber tail. end up looking similar to the above photo when complete.

Posts: 443 Location: Duluth, MN | I use the wire through the loop method which gets the hook back pretty far. Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Posts: 1142 Location: NorthCentral WI | Sharpen the hooks and cast. The shallow invader used to be one of my go to baits and I never had much problems with hooks tangling. The mods above are not necessary in my opinion.
