Author: ShaneW (Show all albums) Building a row troller plus other pictures....The boat is being built with the help of four people - Jerry Cooper and his friend Richard, my mom Karin, and myself. |

Here Jerry and I are prepping the boat for sanding. Jerry is using a scraper to smooth out rough spots on the boat that would take a while to sand while I am using a file to bring the strips flush to the transom. | Lots and lots of power sanding. | Here's Jerry epoxying the stem to the hull of the boat. | After epoxying the stem to the hull you screw it down temporarily to apply pressure to joint so the epoxy cures.
After the stem is fixed in place you bevel the stem with a hand plane to a nice "V" shape so it cuts water. | Here we are test fitting the keel on the boat prior to the beginning of the fiberglass project. | Here's Jerry adding the epoxy base coat to the outer hull of the boat. | Here's the completed base coat prior to adding fiberglass. Really shows the color of the boat when we are done.
Here we are laying out the fiberglass over the hull to begin the fiberglassing process. | Here Jerry and Richard are putting the resin into the fiberglass to make it adhere to the boat. | This is the side of the boat with all of the fiberglass soaked into the epoxy mix. Now we wait for it to cure so we can clear coat the hull. | Here's a picture of the outer hull after a base coat of epoxy, fiberglass, and two clear coats. Later in the process we will add one more coat of epoxy and a UV inhibitor varnish to increase the glossiness and protect the color from UV.
