I use mags, smaller forage in my area. I troll shallower weed edges so weights are not necessary. Key is to pump the rod to give it action in whatever application you use IMO.

I've trolled regular bull dawgs 80ft behind a board at 4mph. Works we'll through schools of bait in open water
