| Hey guys, I build rods from time to time and have been contemplating building a new muskie rod recently. I have used some MHX blanks in the past for smallmouth rods and have always been impressed with their performance for their price. I know a lot of folks like the predator blanks but I was wondering if folks have used the MHX muskie blanks and what their thoughts on there are. Thanks! |

| I have my big rubber rod built on their blank and personally don't feel you can find a better blank for that purpose. It also does well with DBL 13's, but for a serious rubber rod it does awesome... |

Location: South-Central PA | I've built on several of their musky blanks and tons of their other blanks (bass, trout, salmon, surf, fly). All are very high quality. Like Ben said, the big rubber rod was special built for pounders but it throws blades well also.
What specific blanks are you looking at?

I was pretty amazed at how nice the big rubber blank turned out. Have you used any of the other musky blanks? Any thoughts on them for 10's rod or more all around use?

| I was thinking about either 8 1/2 ft 2-6 oz rod as a general purpose or 8 1/2 foot 3-6 oz. |

I've used a few of them. They are very nice quality. The action reminds me more of a TI or Lamiglas, softer tip. The jerkbait blanks are nice and stiff.

I think you'd be happier with the 8'6" 3-8. It'll handle a wider range of baits.
