Posts: 164 | This is an absolute newbie question. I have fished Lake Minnetonka three times this year and to my great surprise my dad took a day off during the week in October and wants to come out and chase some muskies with me on Tonka. I wouldn't say I know this lake perfectly, but with the time spent on it in them three days I would definitely say I am familiar with it. I spent the entire fishing season chasing muskies and my dad has never fished them before but he is an avid and very good Walleye Fisherman. I just got off the phone with him and he is excited to come out with me for a full day. I have all the necessary equipment for the both of us and am simply looking for a suggestion from you guys. My dad thinks given the time of year he would really like to work the inside weed edge. I don't disagree with this tactic, but yet he has never fished Tonka. My question for you guys is. With the mil-foil the way it is on that lake and how thick it can be, is fishing the inside weed edge possible on Tonka? So far much of my experience on the lake has been points, the outside weed lines and deep waters adjacent to these points and weed lines. Though I have not landed a fish on this lake yet I would say my tactic has worked and my son and I have moved a lot of fish in our three times there. I am not looking for your hotspots or places to fish (Unless of course your willing to give them up). I am simply looking for advice on fishing the inside weed edge in general and if it is going to be difficult to fish the inside weed edge on this lake. So far this year everyone on this site has been very helpful and I look forward to reading your replies.

Posts: 400 Location: Metro | Fish them both would be my recommendation. I have had luck on both this year.

Posts: 157 Location: Lincoln, NE | I agree with the fish them both statement. Time of year could dictate which is hotter. You didn't say when you moved them on the points and outside weeds but it could have been a summer pattern or it might work now too. Can't hurt to try both though. But I've never fished that lake so I'd take the advice of the people who know that lake.

Posts: 158 | I'd recommend watching John Hoyer's recent seminar on Thorne Bros. website. Lots of good information from a great inside fisherman with Tonka specific info. Pedro hit it on the head though, the inside bite hasn't been what it used to be, in my hum op. Definitely worth a look, as I do almost everytime out, but the majority of the fish will always be on the outside. Good luck, TB
