I'm going down south to test for Pekin IL fire department in late November and I know spring lake closes for water fowl hunting. Anyone know what the dates are? If I can get out there I wana bring my boat down. Is Banner Marsh the same deal? Thanks

Even if those lake are closed there are several lakes in the area that are stocked. Google illinois muskie lakes and a map will come up showing all of the public stocked muskie lakes and there are several in that area. That same link will also show you if the lakes are closed at any part of the year for hunting season.

I know I've just spent a decent amount of time on those two bodies, and I know I can put fish in the boat there. Only goin for a day and a half and never fished spring in the fall, figured it could be a fun day out there if I figure a pattern out. That lake is loaded with muskies. I'll check the other bodies out if need be though thanks.

I would think that spring would be tough if the fall because all of the vegetation that would still be in the process of dying. You are right it is a blast to fish there in the spring, we fished the one day imtt there this past spring, I caught three measurable fish in a one day tournament and did not get in the money.

I enjoy fishing that area. It's underrated in my opinion. Banner has some monster fish lurking, it'd be cool for the IMTT to host an event down there. And spring is a fish factory, I fished there on a 28 degree day, during the worst snow storm of the year for that area in 2013 and we still caught fish. Was a terrible day to be in an aluminum boat, but a kinda cool memory.

Most of the lakes in the Peoria area close for waterfowl season. The last day you can put a boat on Banner is 10/15 and 10/17 for Spring Lake.

The north end of Spring Lake stays open to boat fishing, but there is a very good chance Spring will have ice on it in November.

Unfortunate. Sucks to have to be down there and not able to fish. But oh well hopefully pekin will hire me and I'll be able to just live down there.

The good news is it looks like the imtt will be hitting spring closer to this years date then the early date they have used in years past. Probably makes for a better tourney when your equipment is not freezing up on you!!!!!

I'll be there whenever they host it next year. It's a fun lake and it was a great time fishing the tournaments I was able to make this year.
