Hi Jason, The Big "V" was hot this
weekend......Several 50+ fish have been reported.....including a 53".
Dave Swenson a local guide boated
two 50''s on saturday, both were on
big bucktails over shallow rock.

This is the story....same stuff....dreaded split shift, re-named our management "the Taliban" + now have to work the dreaded split shift yet AGAIN today....that's ok though as the look on their face was worth 1000 split shifts....Mauser + I will set up a base camp at the Cave this weekend + he will shatter the recent Cave record while I recover from post truamatic mail syndrome.......[::)]

Fished the Three Lakes Invitational. Overall, a tough bite with only 10 fish registered in two days by 62 boats. Not many boats reporting any action at all.

The "damage" for the weekend was once again the classic "close but no cigar". First spot Saturday morning I stick a really good fish. Good hook-up, power run, I lean into her to slow her down, and instant disconnect! I thought it cut my line... but upon further review she straightned my stainless steel snap (a very high quality snap given to me by Dave Dorazio) by breaking off the curved end that hooks onto the shaft of the snap!

Well, I wanted my straight model baby raider back... so we circled the area for 30 minutes hoping the fish would shake the bait. My dad then hollers, "There's your bait!" I look down and see a solid 44-45 inch fish chasing my dad's bait into a figure 8. Stuck to the face of that fish is MY baby raider!! Later in the day Dad shook off a 35-36 inch fish that plowed into the coontail on him. At the end of the weekend we had lost two "placement" fish, boated 5 undersized, and raised a dozen others.

The pattern was finding baitfish relating to DEEP coontail. It wasn't a winning pattern... but at least it was a pattern.

Went out Saturday & trolled Lake St. Clair for 7 hours without even a rip...

Went out Sunday & casted Anchor Bay in Lake St. Clair and boated 2 gorgeous fish. One (43") hit 2 feet from the boat as I started a figure 8. The second (41.5") hit at the start of a long cast. This fish jumped and completely cleared water twice. My first muskies while casting! Trolling vs. Casting...No comparison! Catching a fish while casting is sooo intense!

What an awesome day! Only trouble, no one there to enjoy it with. None the less I had a moment![:praise:] But, I managed to safely net, measure, and release both of these beautiful fish all by myself. [:)]

Thought I’d keep the keep my boys fishing interest lively (hasn’t gone on the last few musky trips). So on Saturday, with a front moving inn and coming off a good moon phase, I knew conditions would be perfect at Lake Julian trout farm. Lol … Anticipating the gouging to come, we spent the morning catching grasshoppers to save $ bait. The action was excellent as predicted. Big trout on ultra light tackle was a blast for him. I had the drag set loose to prolong the fight. Total damage was 4 fish equaling 6lbs. totaling $30 phew… saw me coming… Oh well, the dough was worth it, and the fresh marinated grilled trout was worth it too. He called me at work today to tell me what a good job he did fishing. Yup, still hooked. []

CHADSTER you wouldn't have to ask me twice. Need a partner I'll pay for gas and lunch or swap a day on Hudson in my boat. GatorBaiter

4 days up in Vilas/Oneida - 33, 27, 28, 22 in the boat, lost a 45. All these on top. 3 of which caught Sat, along w/ 25 followers (most small but 3 up to 44-45) on a new Lake X. Most came followin'' up on top and hit short, wouldn''t move on anything else, and wouldn''t even take it reel slow.
