Hi Guys,

Looking for some advice. When I am in Canada Fishing somedays I run out of juice with my 24v system (terrova). In order to make it through the day, I start my honda generator in the boat and recharge the battery when I am running the trolling motor. I have inline fuses but am wondering if I am taking a risk damaging the trolling motor?

Please let me know your opinion-And I can't go to a 36v system(boat won't allow) and I have the big 31 series batteries.

Minnkotta makes a alternator charger that connects to your outboard and recharges your trolling motor batteries as long as your starting battery is fully charged. Don't know how much running or trolling you would have to do to be usefull but a local dealer is installing them on almost every rig he sells.

Yes you can charge them while using them. However, as Frank suggests, an onboard DC charger that connects to your cranking battery and then your tm batteries works wonders. See the other thread that ran last week or two on the review of this item
