Posts: 109 | I've seen people add a split ring to the eye hole of there bulldawgs, tubes and medusas. How many of you guys do this and is the only benifit just easier to hook the bait on the leader?

Posts: 1360 Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | In my experience. Some baits like suicks work better (for me anyway) if there is a split ring in the eye hole. So I add split rings to almost all of my baits. But some baits don't work better with them, actually worse in some cases. But my dawgs dussas and other plastics are on a "if needed" basis. If I like the action or how it pulls without I wont add one. But If I think it can be better with tweaking (whether that tweaking be a split ring or other forms) I will add. I know some guys that add split rings to EVERY bait regardless. I am more of a "oick and choose" type. Just my $.02

Posts: 750 Location: Minneapolis, MN | I put split rings on there so I can get my leader on there, I use a snap. As such, I have no need to use them on Medussas, but I'll put them on Bulldawgs, SuperD's, Hawgwobblers, and Suicks.

Posts: 43 | I put them on any lure that has a small eye hole just to make it easier to get the leader attached.

Posts: 1663 Location: Kodiak, AK | I used to put them on Pounders and Mags. Didn't need them on Medussas. I'd use like 350# Spro split rings so them failing was never a worry for me. Also use them on my flies now for ease of attachment and additional movement.

Posts: 51 | Adding split rings to some baits could hurt the action of the bait. I bought a used jitterbug style musky top water that had a split ring and it wasn't even wobbling. Took it off and it improved the action tremendously.
