Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | Gil Hamm Chapter Challunge is under way.
Pre-fishing was up and down depending on who you talked to. Been some bloom rolling in here and there, but have been moving around some with wind.
Cranks, bucktails and topwaters have all had action. One guy got 4 himself on a squirko!
Water temps 72-74 after a couple overcast days and cooler nights.
No 50s landed in camp this week that I am aware of, but more than a couple have fell off and several have been spotted. Multiple fish from 47-49 inches have been caught on a little bit off everything. Much more rocks than weeds from most reports.
Chartreusse/firetiger has been a good producing colour on all bait styles.
Tourney hours will be Wed and Thurs from 6-6 and Friday til noon.
Good luck to all, especially those hanging their poles here at the resort.

Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | Gil Hamm week was great for all those spending some time in Sabaskong and area. Still tough to pattern fish, but there were action on cranks over rocks and topwaters as well as the usual bucktails and some gliders. Fish up to 52" were caught/reported. The 52" was caught east of Morson despite theory that there are no big fish in Sabaskong Bay and east. Hmmmmmm....someday people will stop thinking that. A lot of fish caught in bays and around weeds as well. Overall a great week of fishing despite a lot of east winds. Chartreuse was the hottest colour, receiving the most mentions.
Starting the week with a cold front and not as many muskie fisherman around so reports will be harder to come by for a few days.
Sure wish I could cast in September...my fave month of the year to be out chucking baits. Amost zero traffic compared to summer and the fish need to eat so you are offering one of the few snack options they might be seeing.
