"Strain" is a commonly used but incorrect term. Eau Claire lakes have been stocked with various source stock.

As far as stocking currently goes Upper Chippewa River, but until recently strain was "unspecified." It says that right on the DNR stocking database

select individual lakes on the dropdown. Originally, who knows, I would guess some offshoot of the Chippewa River gene pool.
