My 2008 mercury 115 four stroke just started acting up on me. Starts up just fine but after it runs for a while and I idle down it dies and then it will turn over but immediately die again unless I can jam it in gear fast enough. It doesn't sound like it's running rough it just dies at idle but only after I have been driving for a little bit. Any ideas? Fuel issue?

I would start with fuel delivery. Drain or pump out tank, replace fuel filter and make sure your tank has proper ventilation. Some fuel pickups have a screen that can get
clogged.

Just did some digging around and noticed that half of my air filter is gone. Wondering if maybe that got sucked into something but not sure. Looks like I'm gonna have to take it in and see what they say.

No reed valves on a four stroke. If half your air filter got sucked into the motor im guessing that's the problem.
