I have a Rapala Sportsman's Classic Series casting rod. The model number is SNC30TR70MH1. It is a 7 foot MH rod rated for 10-20 line and 3/8-1.5 oz lures. I am contemplating using it as a creature rod for the upcoming season. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Is it too light?

Thanks

Baldy

I fished most of last season (my first season chasing musky) with a bass pro shops extreme series rod in MH power. It was rated for 3/8-1oz, and 10-20lb test. I had no problems at all with it. I never did catch anything really big (41" was longest, also a 40" ~20lbs). I will say, on the bigger fish I did catch, during a good fight I could feel flex all the way down to the handle, which I cant imagine is a good thing. I have decided to convert that rod to my creature rod this year, and dont anticipate any major problems.

Id say it will be fine for you, but im still quite the rookie, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
