The fox chain of lakes about an hour north of chicago is prettty decent if you know how to fish it.

If you are coming from Ontario I think you will be disappointed overall with fishing anywhere in Illinois.

Fox Chain is good for fishing, cruising and water sports. Can get extremely busy on the weekends though. So if crowds arent your thing you may want to look at other options.

I fish all over Illinois, here is a list of lakes that you can catch fish and take a family to
1. pierce lake outside of Rockford on the eastside "rock cut state park" this is a very small lake and it held the state record for a lot of years
2. shabbona lake, this lake produced the state record 4 times this is also a state park.
here is a web site that might help http://illinoismuskies.com/muskie.htm ,
I personal stay off the chain in the summer time, people die on this chain during the summer due to the amount of power boaters that should not be on inland lakes and they don't know how to drive them and there is lots of bars on the chain also
if you need any more info on certain lakes send me a message and I will try and help.

I fish a musky lake in northern IL just about every weekend morning and sometimes after work. So I my have a pattern that you could start with
good luck
Jason

Take them salmon fishing out of Waukegan or north point. What part of Chicago or suburb will you be in? Goto heidecke lake near Morris with so.e spinning rods and small crankbaits and catch a hodgepodge of species.
