Posts: 238 Location: Rhinelander | After utilizing the search function I have read all the stories of this rig having some potential issues with trolling into 2.5-3' waves. Does this boat sit lower in the water vs a 2005 and earlier model or the 2008 hull and later? If it does I may prefer this hull over the later models. My musky fishing style is casting and 90% of the time in Northern WI. I don't see the wave spearing as a big deal in the WI waters so I'm leaning towards a 620. I fish a lot out of a buddies Ranger 520vx and this is my dream rig but not so kind with kids and pan fishing. Why a 620 then? My 690vs is great for casting but when the family tags along on pan fishing trips the 690 can get tight for space. The kids are only getting older and sometimes their friends tag along. Maybe I keep the 690vs but have been looking harder and harder at a larger rig and this year class seem to be in my budget and if it is closer to a bass type hull better yet. Please give me the scoop from guys that fished this hull. Thanks

Posts: 299 | Yes.. The 2006 620 sits lower than 2005 or 2008 or newer. I've been fishing LSC for 6 years out of a 2006 620 and only cast. The hull is fast and handles big water great. The 2005/2008+ have a steeper keel that does handle rougher water better but it's still a nice safe ride on big water. Have I taken water over bow? Yes, few times pointed directly in big waves when at idle or using trolling motor but nothing serious... Just a little water on deck. It's a great boat for family too! I use it to chase all fish on even small really small shallow lakes, plus we as a family tube/wakeboard and ski from it all the time. It's really a great family boat besides being a fishing machine.

Posts: 5874 | I have experience in a 2006 620 with a 225 Opti Pro XS, Pro Kicker, and Maxxum 101. Yes, it is is a different hull from the 2005, and 2008. Yes, it will take some water over the bow when sitting in 1 1/2+ footers. All I needed to do was put the big motor in gear at idle, and that went away. I would not let it stop me from owning one, if the price was right. I ran the boat on Bago for a week prefishing, and then in a 2-day Walleye tournament. Both tourney days we had wind, and 2-2 1/2 footers, sometimes a bit more. The harder I drove that boat, the better the ride. It got up on top of the waves, and really rode quite nicely. Not the best riding boat in the waves, But near the top. It wasn't the worst ride by a long shot.
