Just looking for a little bit of information from the addicts out there, and I am sure this topic has been covered many times so I apologize ahead of time. I am picking up a Lexa 400 for my big spinners but I am also going to buy a new reel that will primarily will be used for topwaters and jerkbaits. As the header states, I am either going to purchase the Revo Toro NACL or the Shimano Curado 300, just can't decide which is the best direction. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The last question that I have, is where can you find the best prices to purchase either one of these reels without going onto Ebay?

I have 3 NACl's and I love them all.One HS I use for jerks and 2 of the 5.4:1 on my other rods. These are by far the best reels I have ever used.

Ive used/owned both and prefer the NACL over the Curado. The NACL casts farther, is smoother and looks better IMO.

I've also owned both and the revo is better in my opinion. The only thing I liked more about the curado is how easy it is to adjust the brake. And the revo also comes with a paddle handle and a power handle.

Shimano hands down. Had two toro 60s with issues, and a nacl 50 with issues. Never had an issue with my curado 300EJ.

I had a revo toro 5.4 and currently own both a Curado 300E and 300EJ. I like the Curados much better and use them for everything. Downside to the Curados is a weaker drag and no clicker.

I have both and like both very much. However, the Shimano does everything just a little bit better. I find I can cast smaller baits a little easier with the Shimano, if that is worth anything to you.

I like both too. Like the Curado a bit better for casting and easier to adjust brakes on fly. The NACL is smooth. I've had a bit of trouble with each so I'd rate the durability the same.

Google the NACL and you can find them for about $210 but you rarely see the Curado discounted. Because it is a coin toss on the reels for me, I'd go with the discounted NACL.

Used both, love the NaCl. Curado isn't bad but I give Abu the upper hand for low profile reels. I do very minimal trolling so the clicker is nice to have if I troll. The power handle makes a huge difference on 8's and 10's. You can't burn but can retrieve them fast with comfortable force. Love the drag on the NaCl, smooooth.

I prefer my Revo over my Curado. Casts are a lot smoother & further with the Abu. I don't much care for how the line piles up on once side of the spool on my Curado.

+1 for the NACL I have the 5.4 and it is great for pretty much anything. Amazing reel and super smooth.

Both are good reels, but I prefer both the Curados (the EJ) is my favorite reel. I've had more issues with my Abus as compared to my Shimanos, but I guess that could be the luck of the draw.

Both good reels as noted by others, I prefer the Curado, sold my NaCL to get another Curado. Think you need to go with the one you like best.
Good Luck!

Total opposite for me I Sold my Curado once I started using the 61Nacl reels.. I have three of them now and just love them. The Curado can not cast as far has a smaller line capaciy, line does not lay correctly on the reel, DOES NOT come in 5/4;1 and it has no line out clicker.and comes with One handle, instead of two.......DUH ..Get the Abu Hands down a better reel.

Mike, I agree that the Abu offers some things the Curado does not, however I still in no way do I feel it is a better reel. This is more of a Ford vs Chevy deal. Different reels "feel" better for different folks. I hate the feel of the Tranx, but that doesn't mean it is not a good reel, it is just not the reel for me! Bottom line is the Abu and the Curado are both good products.

I own both a NACL and a Shimano Curado 300EJ. Both have been excellent reels for me.

The Curado casts farther, smoother, and is more comfortable in the palm, however the drag will slip sometimes. I would suggest a different drag washer to prevent this.
The NACL with power handle is hands down better for burning bucktails and double 10's

Both have held up very nice and you won't go wrong with either choice

For the Curado, check out Colgard Sports online.  Their store is located in Virginia and they're not a well known online retailer, but I've ordered from them in the past and had good experiences.

Can get the 300E for under $210 and the EJ under $220, I believe free shipping as well.

I picked up a NACL HS this off-season and have thrown it for one weekend so far. Absolutely love it, and am thinking of picking up the 5.4 for throwing double tens I cant say anything about the shimano though.

They are all fine, but there is something special about a 300ej. It is a muskie machine...

Hold both. I personally love the specs of the NaCl, but hate the feel. I think the 300E is one of the most comfortable reels I've ever held. It's also been a mainstay and was introduced like six years ago.

Tranx and Curado 300E are what I lead with

I to both use a currado 300 for jerk/glide and topwater and tranx 500pg for bucktails and big plastics. Shimano has yet to let me down!
