Having an issue here. Wondering how severe this could be. Please see attached pics.

When I changed the gear case lube last fall, it looks a bit milky as they say. Now it apparently is leaking from the motor...

Then when I changed the oil in the spring (couldn't do it in the fall cause I couldn't turn the motor to drain it because something was frozen up with the steering) some water came out (maybe a few oz's) the instant I took out the oil bolt. Then the oil came out, looked like regular old used dirty oil.

Really hoping something major didn't happen.

is the motor a four stroke? if so what does the dipstick oil look like. i ask because a gearcase usually will not leak from that area

water is heavier than oil so it was naturally on the bottom and came out first when draining, it probably wasn't milky because it hadn't been ran at all and mixed together with the oil. it probably collected in there over awhile from condensation. I would run it now for awhile with the new oil and check to see again later what it looks like

When you have a leak and water gets in, the oil, being it floats on water, has to go somewhere. Out the top seal is what this looks like.

Milky lube after you run it, separate to lube over water after it sits for a while.

I'd suggest that you have a prop seal leaking. I'd get that check out. Dealers will pressure check, and you will know what the issue is.

yes it is a four stroke

I did have some fishing line wrapped around the prop, that I removed the other day, maybe the seal theory is correct and that's how the problem began huh?

the dipstick oil looks good and normal
