For those of you involved in Muskies, Inc. I'm interested in your feedback regarding release data information.  First let me read you what it states on the back of the membership card "to disseminate Muskellunge information".

Now let me explain the dillemma we are faced with.  In order to get points for your release you are required to fill out certain information on the release form before submitting it to MI.  Many folks don't like to share their lake information on where they caught their fish so they simply put N.A. for the lake name.  This protects their source and keeps the lakes that they are fishing on successfully- a deep dark secret!

My question is this; how valuable is the data that MI is receiving from the release form information if NA is entered & accepted?  Should these guys be able to register their fish if they don't name their lakes?  On the flip side, if guys are strong-armed into naming lakes, then could we see a huge influx of "Trout Lake" entries where the data is completely bogus in order for guys to keep their lakes a secret?  Either way the information is skewed.  Any suggestons?

This is the quandary you will alwyas be faced with. It will not change and because of this, any entry information could be skewed. I wish i had the answer.
