| To the OP, what is your budget?
The best rod for tossing Pounders for under $100 is the Okuma EVX. It has the backbone to chuck the baits, but it won't load like a wet noodle, wasting all your energy.
If you want to spend more, then go XH Predator and get it customized for 16 oz. lures. You said "perfect", so that to me = Custom. There is a difference between a rod that will cast a bait like a Pounder and rod that will do it "perfectly" and actually be viable for a full day of chucking those baits without being entirely at the expense of your upper back. |

| i agree with brad p. i have both the okuma 9'3" xh and the xh pred. the predator is awesome and throws pounders really well in my opinion but they are expensive. if your on a budget the okuma is what i would do. |

| The main Problem is not the Budget. In Europe I can get rods from St. Croix, MI and TI. And perhaps the new rods from ChaosTackle. That are my alternatives... |

Get a TI rod if you can. You will like it a lot. Tackle Industries makes one heck of a rod. |

| If he thinks the Big Dawg rod i to soft, he's not gonna like the TI rod.
I have, the Mark Lijewski rod, the St. Croix BD and the TI xxh, and the softes of the three is the TI. |

100% disagree. If you think the TI XXH is soft your swinging it like a baseball bat. Let the rod do the work for you. I have owned the Big Dawg but not the Mark L rod and the TI throws pounders better IMO but both rods are great. I just moved over to TI rods as I like them better. |

| Pounders is exactly what I use it for! Should have clarified that. However, everyone may like a different feel when fishing dawgs. I myself do not like a lot of flex in the rod tip. 9 footer of course. |

| I really like the MI 9' Monster heavy. Can throw pounders out good and has a good backbone for hook sets. |

Location: Western PA | sklehh.... Yes it's good for pounders. Chaos tackle worked very hard on the blanks and they preform fantastic. Similar to tackle industries from the sense of having some flex. More of a moderate fast taper, but blended with a fast backbone. Personally prefer the quality over tackle industies which is expected with a slightly larger price tag. |

X2 on the assault sticks. The shock and awe rod is an amazing big rubber rod but it also can do more than that. The entire assault stick line is good IMO. |
