Gents,

For those throwing Shimano Curado 300s, I was wondering about the tension on your drag star. When you tighten the drag down does the star wobble back and forth and have play in it? Mine does and then when it is loosend the wobble is gone and there is no play in it. Thank you.

Trying to picture your definition of "wobbling". Are you saying that as you tighten it down there is play in the threads between the star and the drive shaft, or the drive shaft wobbles allowing the star to wobble? If it was the former I would have to believe that it is stripped and if you tighten it down all the way it wouldn't lock up it would just turn and pop back up a bit. And if it's not stripped, not sure why it would seem tight or good when it's backed off and gets "wobbly" when it is tightened down.

No play in mine. New reel, or did you have it serviced lately? Sounds like a spring is broke/missing or on the wrong side of the star drag.

Propster, thank you for the reply. What I was trying to explain was that if you tighten the star down (drag fully engauged) can you shake the star back and forth? Wobble might have been a poor choice of words on my part. Drive shaft is not moving at all, only the drag star. Just serviced as well and everything checked out.

Everyone else that replied, thank you for your inputs as well. Please read above, hopefully I clarified a bit better.

Thanks all.

Gents,

Thank you all for your inputs, very much appreciated. I especially want to thank Propster AKA: Keith Edberg for going out of his way to help a guy like me that he has never even met. He spent a lot of time communicating back and forth with me and trying to help resolve the issue that I had identified. Great dude for sure, it's nice to see folks out there so willing to help people like that!
So I went out and checked out some brand new off the shelf Curados to see what they were like and each one was just like mine. Same ammount of play in the drag star. I was informed it is a "floating" system and is not "fixed" like say a Revo Toro etc. Hit the water yesterday chasin' Tigers, reel was smooth, drag was good, casted great, no worries.

Thanks again all, Green
