Location: Planet Meltdown | I'm looking to pick up another trolling rod for dragging big bait. Plows, Hose Baits, big Jakes / Grandmas. Not looking to break the bank. Will be pairing it up with a Penn GT 320 and will most likely be running mono.

Location: Pewaukee Lake | I would take a close look at new trolling rods through Custom X. Gonna run ya around $165 bucks. Sweet rods and great manufacturer to back your purchase. If those are out of price range go grab a Shimano TDR 8' heavy for 30 bucks. Have a couple of those going strong after a couple years use!! |

Location: South Central Wisconsin | I've been using the Black River with no complaints for about $100 a piece. My advice, don't go too cheap. A better rod can tell you alot about how your bait is running by watching the rod tips. I was going to buy catfish rods, glad I didnt. |

Location: St. Lawrence River | I just bough a cabelas tournament trail 7'6 XH on sale for like $34.. I'm gonna stck that in a rod holder this summer and pull some bigger baits with it and see what it does |

Location: Pittsburgh, PA | I saw the Custom X trolling rod at Muskie Max is PA. Very nice rod! I think TI makes a trolling rod, plus you cant beat the customer service there. |

Location: oswego, il | I just purchased 4 diawa accudepth 9'6" dipsey rods. All my other trolling rods, Okuma, Garcia, South Bend are cheap fiberglass rods or composite. Put hundreds of fish in the boat using the devils method(trolling). They work just fine. |

Location: pittsburgh, pa | Depends if you want a long or short rod. Ugly Stik Stik tiger 7' MH will handle those baits with no problem. And 10' ugly stick dipsey would be good for a long rod. |

Location: Planet Meltdown | Considering I fish a lot by myself, I think a 10' rod is out of the question. I have a hard enough time netting fish with my 9' casting rods. I think I'm gonna take the plunge on a Custom X rod. From the sounds of it, they are a good investment. |

| My feelings has always been, that you don't need a specific size and a name brand rod to use for trolling..I've caught, as I'm sure many of you have many fish trolling with Many different brands of 7', 7'6", and 8' Rods.. I think the more important factor is to know how your bait is working and at what approximate depth you are running it..
Now (If productive) it is very important to try and reproduce those actions that worked for you. I've Run many different rods threw out the years and I guess all of them will work but I think It really depends on what you feel comfortable with. I like to see the action of the lure on my rod tip, so I do not use a pool Que XXH rod, nor do I like a long soft wimpy rod either......My personal all around favorites in the waters I fish are Standard St Croix 76" Med/hvy rods .....Big stuff 8'heavy Premier they are great rods for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ JMO Mike |

Location: Walker, MN | Great point Mike, how many rods do we really need in the boat? If I know I won't be casting on a particular day, I will bring my glass trolling rods with line counter reels and 4'-5' leaders but most days I just troll with my casting rods. |

After hearing many guys say "these are the best trolling rods on the market" And also recently doing business with Chuck (He painted up some super nice Custom X 6.5 Fury baits from me) Chuck was a pleasure to work with and I feel confident he will send me a quality rod that will last a long time. The 5 year, no questions asked warranty was icing on the cake. |
