| Rigging my first boat (2003 Crestliner Fish Hawk). I picked up a 80# Terrova with I-Pilot link and will be getting 2 Humminbird 859ci HD combos. My question is what additional accessories will I need to pick up to network these altogether?
I've read I'll need a 5-port ethernet switch, 2 AS-EC-QDE adapter cables, 2 ethernet cables, and the MKR-US2-8 US2 adapter for the Terrova sonar. Does that sound about right?
I also read that a 60 amp breaker & 6 gauge wire is more appropriate for an 80# Terrova. Any truth to that?
Thanks in advance for all the input. |

| Sounds right to me.
I picked up the iPilot link and 998 last year. I used the 30 ft. Ethernet cable included with the link to hook up the 998 to the link. This year I'm adding a second, networked unit to the system. Needed a new 788 ci HD head unit (with Ethernet adapter cable), the 5 port hub, and two new Ethernet cords. Once the boat is out of storage, planning to place the 5 port hub under the bow cap - short Ethernet cord from iPilot Link to hub, short Ethernet cord from 788 ci HD to hub (with adapter), and long Ethernet cord that originally came with iPilot Link from 998 to hub.
Can't comment on the breaker, but I think thicker gauge wire is always better when carrying high current as in with the trolling motor. |
