In Fudally Tackles ad in Musky Hunter Magazine it lists their Reef Hawg as being the #4 musky catching lure of all time. That got me to wondering what the top three were. I could think of at least 2, the suick and possibly Mepps Bucktails. These have been around for quite a while to rack up the numbers. Couldn't think of a third lure though. Any thoughts on what the three lures ahead of the Reef Hawg are? Also where do they get the number of being #4? Thanks.

Not sure exactly what 3 or what order but I would bet its a combination of these lures.

Suick
Bagley
Mepps
Harasser

I think that the #s come from the recorded catches through Muskie's Inc but I am not sure.

According to my MI Lunge Log, the Reef Hawg has accounted for 5110. The Suick has accounted for 7984. 6126 specified "Mepps," but the number goes higher than Suick when you take into account that some people specified Mepps and added "Musky Killer," "Giant Killer," "Magnum," "Cylops" or "Minnow." I couldn't find the other lure higher than Reef Hawg - it may be due to the fact that people call the same lure a different name (e.g. "Windel's" or "Harrasser").

Found it! Bagley is also ahead of the Reef Hawg. Like Mepps, there are several different Bagley lures. I would say #1 is between Mepps and Bagley - didn't take the time to add up the total of all the versions. Suick would be the #1
one version lure - actually I guess they now have a regular and a suspending, but most fish were probably caught on the original. The world is getting too complicated! The ultimate multi-version lure (Homemade Buck Tail) was also way up the list, for all you home-brew fans.
