What to do between now and open water fishing? Looks like it could be another 3 or 4 weeks here in Iowa.

You could make a pizza that smells like musky!:-)

or run a 400 yard dash holding your breath.

or make your own muskiefirst action hero set!

Sharpen your hooks! I'm going so stir crazy here in the Tundra that I've sharpened all my hooks down to the nub. Have a feeling I'll be setting up tip-ups when the season opens here in June. Humph.

3-4 weeks!?!?! Lucky! I'm predicting a later ice out here than last year. I'll put it around May 20th for Big Winnie

Pepper, we are at least 5 weeks from ice out, 10 day forecast not a single day above 25 for a high lows in the single digits or below zero....gonna be a very late iceout. Local lake still has 18" + of ice.. that takes a little while to go away

So busy painting lures that I don't have time to even think about what else I can do. So cold still here in wisconsin that I wonder if the ice will even melt this year.

Good news though. Your local musky shop probably has lots of new stuff coming in. Mine does! New baits and equipment. Spending money always helps shake the winter blues. Or does it make it worse?

You know how lucky us Iowa guys are this time of year? By the time MN opens we've already got well over a month of fishing in. I'm looking at 2 feet of ice by me. Dropping way too much money on new gear I don't need, snow boarding this weekend, shed (antler) hunting the next 2... dang, still wait 1-3 weeks till open water
