From a price point I would look at a lexa 300. Can grab one new on ebay for $130.

I just got a lexa 300 7.1. I haven't used it yet but the looks, feel and the reviews I have seen for it made me order a 5.1 also, hard to beat for the price.

How does the 300 Lexa compare in size to a Curado or a Toro 50?

the lexa and curado are similar size, the toro 50s are a bigger reel

I'm a long time lake trout fisherman, and relatively new to the muskie game. Thanks for the info because i was wondering about these reels.

I prefer my Curado 301 over my Lexa 300HL. Just a smoother all-around fishing experience and much quieter than my Lexa. I just ordered the Lexa 400HL and a couple Okuma Komodo 350s (KDR-364LX). Couldn't pass up the Okumas with stainless innards & 25 lbs. max drag (designed for salt H2O fishing & braided line). Plus, the Komodo has a fully-engaged level wind when the thumb bar is depressed; Lexa doesn't from what I can tell. Can't wait to give them a workout this season!
