Is a 3 foot depth on a net or do I want something deeper? Looking to get a different net the one I have now is way to shallow probably 24" and it was a bear to net a fish by myself

42-48" is what I prefer.

I would be more concerned with hoop size and most larger hoop nets have deeper bags in the 40" plus range. You need a deep enough and big enough net so the fish is not being doubled up and distressed while you are trying work with it. They will also get out if your net is not deep enough. Just my thoughts.
