I hear there is ice on Cave Run for the first time in years. Hopefully this doesn't fubar my March 1st and 2nd fishing trip.

There's Ice on Cave Run every year just not the whole lake. In the 14 years that I have lived down here this is the first year that it's frozen completely. The lake should be ice free by March1st but your problem will be with flooding might be up in the tree's in March. Good fishing to You. Marv.

Yes we have a complete ice out! Most I've seen on the lake ever, but next weeks warming trend could melt it some.

I have a trip planned for late March to cave run. Does this flooding impact the activity at all from past years?

I'm booked for the end of March as well. Hopefully weather levels out soon

From what I'm told the flooding happens every year and people are fishing shallow flats and pulling fish off of park benches and port-a-johns. lol

That would be awesome fishing all the odd places and hopefully producing fish out of them. What are the desired springtime water temps for the most action or does it vary?

IT's A fun Time to fish, on the cave in the spring you start fishing as soon as you can stand the weather, we don't watch the water temps much till June as most of us are off the water when it hits 80*. then I go after Bass or big lake Blue's. or head north, Wisc. Min. St Clair or Canada . You guys have your ice we have our hot water . Check out Tony Grant's Cabin Fever on his web sight COME ON DOWN MARCH, APRIL, MAY BEST TIME OF THE YEAR. MARV.
