| I have came across a ton of barnwood. I am wanting to build something to hang lures/swimbaits on that would be standalone. I was wanting something similar to a fishing rod rack but with wires running across to hang lures on. Anybody ever seen or made something similar to this. I guess the DIY lure makers probably use something similar.
I was thinking about having three wires about 12 inches apart from each other going up and down like shelves would. make the rack about 36 - 40 inches high.

| appreciate it. Just wanting something for my mancave to hang my musky lures and big swimbaits but not wanting to use the wall since it will be indoors. |

| Here is the cabinet I made for the garage. The overall size with the doors closed is 66" wide x 48" tall. The main cabinet is made from 2x6's and the doors are 2x4's.
I thought about adding strobe lights to it when you open up the doors, but it's enough that angels sing LOL.

| dude that is awesome. Gave me some great ideas. What did you use to hang the hooks on? Is that just a small piece of wood? Did you cut a groove into it or anything? |

| thanks! for the bucktails and spinnerbait side I used square dowel rods and positioned them corner up for rigidity. I just simply hang the lures on them. no grooves. For the hard baits I cut down some 2x4's on a table saw. I'll measure tomorrow and give you the exact dimentions for those and the dowels. |

| Cheap and easy way is just to mount curtain hangers on the wall or whatever rack you come up with. |

| CT, I just measured and my dowels are 1/2" and my others are 1"x1" ripped down from a table saw. PM me if you want any other details. It was fun to make and works great. I think an inside free standing cabinet would look amazing made out of the barn siding. Plus you could make it pretty tall. |

Location: Aurora | I can see it now, big rustic looking barn wood doors with some old-timey hinges & handles on um. Killer!
Idea - Make bait hanging sections within the cabinet that can easily be lifted off of brackets or something with lures on them and set into a grab & box of some kind (maybe constructed out of barn wood also?).
Imagine being able to see all you baits with an upcoming trip planned. Moving them to the "grab & go" racks, or moving them to the "maybe" rack, "retired" rack, "money" rack, "chew'd" rack, etc.
In the event of a garage/house fire? Lift the racks out with 20 - 30 baits on them and toss em into a cooler, box, or out the window and viola'.. They're not lost to the fire. |
