| Anyone run or have experience running one of these? I found a nice one I am planning on swapping out my current '88 90hp Merc 3 cylinder for on my Ranger 680c. Good move? (Yes, I would prefer a newer one but this is all I can do for now and the price was right.) |

Location: With my son on the water | I had that motor. It is VERY smooth. The low end torque was not great but after I got it propped correctly it was great. The lower pitch prop took away some top end and increase fuel consumption. (it could really drink gas compared to the new motors of today) But it was solid.
If you need more PM me.
Have a great day. |

| I had 2 90hp tower of powers, One was older, it had a distributer instead of switch boxes for ignition. That motor didn't last long as it blew up on the test drive a couple minutes in (totally the sellers fault) I got a good deal on that boat after the motor went. I repowered it with a late 80s version of that same 90hp tower of power, it was a pretty good motor. Very easy to work on.
All I can sayif your looking to repower from a 90hp to a 115hp make sure that deal is really good. As their is some work involved and it would suck to do all the work and not be happy with the move.
I currently have a 681c I repowered with a 115 Johnson, it had a 70hp Johnson. I am very happy with the move
