Any tips on making gliders with twister tails? I have made a few prototypes but cant get them to glide right. Im using them on a design that i know works without the tail, 5" long, 3/4" maple with one weighting point. Ive been using 4" mr twister grubs cut to the last rib and attached to the bait using a wood screw with the head cut off epoxied in the bait. I have tried different tow points on the front of the bait aswell with no luck. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Try using different tails or possibly changing your weight/body profile shape. The tail can restrict the amount the bait can glide so sometimes you need a more consistent/erratic style glider to work with a tail bait. Not ever glider is equipped or made to work with tails as you are aware!

I've found adding weight aswell as adjusting placement of weight helps. The tail is acting like a parachute on the back. Have to get enough weight to offset the drag.

I have found that a little more weight on the balance point and also a very tiny bit of weight in the tail to offset the bouancy of the plastic tail, I use a straight out the front of the nose, for leader attachment. try testing for your balance in a wash tub or sink when you add your weight, I like my gliders to sit level , with all hardware and hooks, almost neutral, before your clear is added, if you use etex for your clearcoat, that will add the additional weight to get the desired sink rate. you have to play with them as each one will be different if made out of wood. have fun with them.
