Posts: 90 Location: Athens, Ohio | I'm focused on Lund. This will be a combined family and fishing boat. I will use it on local lakes in Ohio, but want to use it on St. Clair, LOTW, Erie as well. I've narrowed my search down to a 2075 Tyee. Seems very fishable, but family friendly at the same time. Also it seems big enough to handle the larger bodies of water I plan on. I am looking to those with experience with Lund, what are some do's and don'ts to buying these boats. So, I would like suggestions on the following: Motors- Im looking at 250 HP Merc. Not sure of the big differences b/t the Verado, ProXS and the optimax, other than the Optimax weighing 150 lbs less Trolling motors: Will 80 Lb thrust be enough or do I need to go 100? Is the iPilot and all that jazz really necessary? Electronics: I'm really in the dark here. I'm familiar with HB, never used Lowrance. I was planning on bow and dash units. Where does the larger unit go? Up front so you can see it better, or on the dash? Sidescan, Downscan.... really cool, but do you use them that much?? Trailers: any must haves on a Lund trailer? Any tips and advice are welcome and appreciated. Many Thanks!

Posts: 559 | I think you are going to need the 101 terrova w/ ipilot, the ipilot is very nice. Finders? which ever you go with be sure that you can change them back and forth from dash to bow , I like the bigger on the bow. As far as a trailer do not skimp I think a tandem is in order here for traveling Good Luck and post some pics when you get it

Posts: 19 Location: new lenox, il. | I muskie fish out of a 1850 Tyee and I find the sides are a bit too tall. It's a long way down to the waterline. Keeping the fish in the water and removing the hooks is a little bit of a problem. The front casting platform is also a bit too small. It's a great boat for trolling and walleye fishing but it doesn't fit me right when I muskie fish. The I Pilot is nice, especially when linked to a Humminbird. I run the I Pilot link sys and I love it. The "follow the contour" feature is awesome. A lot of guys that used cable steer trolling motors are switching to the I Pilot.

Posts: 90 Location: Athens, Ohio | Thanks, guys, I was thinking that keeping fish in the water would be tough. How do you get by with the Tyee 1850? Just endure a lot of pain to the ribs?

Posts: 60 Location: Colgate, WI | I would think the Tyee would be pretty tough for Musky with the tall gunnels. It's certainly a great choice for big water, but maybe take a look at the Pro-V, which has lower gunnels and can still handle big water pretty well. Been fishing Lake Michigan and small inalnd lakes and Canada for four years in our Pro-V. With four pedestal spots in the cockpit area it can work with the family, but still be quickly changed to a purpose rigged fishing boat. 250Hp is a good call (we have 225 and it's good, but 250 would be better). If you're starting from scratch try Humminbirds with the I-link. It's pretty slick for working specific structure in a repeated manner. IMO, the 101 with I-pilot is the miimum for any 20' boat. Posts: 5874 | I'd also opt for the ProV's over the Tyee. Also, look at the GL models. Awesome boats. Either way, tandem axle Bunk trailer. Hate rollers. Opti or Verado? Opti and ProXS will have slightly better hole shot and economy. Verado is quiet, and has good power. I'd go 101 36V and i-Pilot on the Terrova. Electronics is personal choice. I've been a Lowarance guy, but would look hard at the HB and I-Link. Good luck and have fun shopping.
