Posts: 2754 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | LOL- Dick Pearson's "Muskies on the Shield" clued me into hot pink -> Betty's hot pink bucktail..... The hot pink 9" Alien is always on a rod and usually my first cast on any spot. Yes, its a "cresent wrench", meaning I can do things with it that you just can't do with a traditional crank bait.... Have fun! Al Edited by ESOX Maniac 12/31/2013 6:25 AM

Posts: 572 | If The hot pink 9" Alien is so hot, how come I have a difficult time in finding one? Is it made by American Hardwood Lures? If so, I didn't see it listed on their site. Just curious what one looks like and who sells them. Maybe I just have fat fingers this morning. Thanks for the help.

You can't find one because its a basement bait I created using a salt water squid body (Moldcraft). The trick to the Alien is the internal rigging. One of my best friends Mike Hofmann used to sell them thru his business (ZaltNAD). Unfortunately its closed due to a serious decline in his health and his sons are getting rid of inventory. 4 sizes 6", 9", 12", 16" . Inventory of hot pink Alien's is zero. However, I still make them for myself and friends. Have fun! Al Edited by ESOX Maniac 1/1/2014 10:52 AM Attachments ---------------- Alien1.JPG (85KB - 193 downloads)

Location: Eastern Ontario | Very interesting what are the dodads between the springs and ahead of the back crimp and what is their purpose? Do you assemble the complete harness before installing? Thanks Frank

Posts: 2754 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Frank- Those are beads from a hobby store, they keep the springs in position. The springs allow the rear hook to to move on the hookset even though the beast has the squid body clamped in her mouth - higher hooking precentages. Same is true of front stinger with rubber bands, e.g., lets you move the hooks on hookset. I use the fabric covered ponytail bands from Wally World now, they don't melt if you store the Alien with the stinger on the squid body, an early lesson..... The springs are stainless steel as is the nylon covered 18 strand stainless steel 180lb cable - double barrel crimps with each double crimped using the manufacturer's crimping tool. Have fun! Al

Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | Yes, I like straight the best! Jointed work also, but it takes a 1/4 oz. bell sinker on the front hook hanger to make them behave the way I want them to, Great LOTWs baits! Very versatile. Can be cast or trolled, and will run shallow or deep. Easy to work, all you need to do is throw it out and reel it back in. Big Fish baits. Doug Johnson

Doug Johnson Landed a few fish this fall trolling 10" Believers (jointeds and straights) that I add a couple of personal tweaks to. What size bell sinker to the front hook hanger and what exactly does it do on the jointeds that you don't add them to straights? Just curious, thanks
