Location: Eastern Ontario | What percentage of the lures you own have actually caught a fish. I have caught a respectable number of fish over the last 25 years but I would bet that they have been caught on less than 10% of the lures I own. No fault of the lures but I go to my proven lures and 90% of my lures have less than 5 hours and some have never been wet. I guess I have 2 hobbies fishing and lure collecting.

![]() Location: Sawyer County, WI | Same here. I'm sure I have hundreds of dollars of lures that have never hit water yet. I need to break them out in 2014 and give the confidence lures a well deserved rest.

Posts: 8866 | Once you've caught a fish on a lure it becomes more and more difficult to throw anything else. I'm definitely under 10%. Much of that is lures that I bought and have just not had a chance to fish with for any length of time. The funny thing is that 90% of my fish have been caught on the same three lures.

Location: Eastern Ontario | 30 years ago under the constraints of a mortgage and a young family all my muskie lures fit in a Styrofoam minnow bucket 90% of my lures had caught fish and they were all used regularly

Posts: 994 Location: Minnesota: where it's tough to be a sportsfan! | I know some guys whose names won't be released to protect the innocent that would be lucky to get close to the 10% mark they have that many baits. Like Horsehunter, I had a couple bucktails one even had hair left! a reef hawg and then added a killer Suick to the boat!! Now I know the lure I want but can't ever find it!

Posts: 720 | Horsehunter I've been pairing down the last couple of seasons. You're right on the money with the 90 - 10 thing. My wife ask me why do keep buying more when all I do is use the same 12 lures. My answer has always been " because I'm looking for number 13." Great thread!!

Posts: 622 Location: Seymour, WI | My dad fished muskies his whole life with just a white rooster tail, a handful of mepps musky killers and one suick. If they weren't biting on that, then they weren't biting. I would say I have about 200 lures and less than 10% of them have caught a musky.

Location: Contrarian Island | i have this same discussion when guys talk about not wanting to pay $8 a sucker...chances are good that 8 sucker is gonna get wacked..same guys that complain about $8 suckers have 300, $20 lures that have never caught a fish... kinda comical ! I agree w the percentage i'd guess 80-90% of my lures haven't caught a fish yet.... i sell more than i buy typically each year .. when you are new to the sport you catch a fish on a lure then go out and buy 5 or 10 of that one lure in different colors.the more experienced you get you realize you don't need 10 different colored depthraiders... ; ) Edited by BNelson 12/18/2013 2:24 PM
