I just got probably one of the last Shimano Stradic 4000s ever because they are no longer making them...oh and I paid $29.99. I put it on a St. Croix Avid 7' Medium Heavy. Now, all I need is line for it. What line should I put on it(lb test and brand)?

Brett, sounds like a sweet outfit. I would go with nothing less than 17# test for jigging Muskies. A lot depends upon the size jig and the hook size. In mono I really like "P" line. Can be hard to find but it is very strong has a little less stretch than most monofilament and is also pretty tough. Another good choice would be with one of the Berkley products, Trilene Big Game etc. These are the two Mono lines that I use for my set ups when monofilament is called for. I also use 65# Tuff XP super braid, this is for when I use larger jigs with those big 6/0 and 7/0 hooks. You will find that it is sometimes hard to get that size hook buried into the fish with a "stretchy" line such as monofilament. I know Steve Worrall uses a spinning outfit and around 17# mono and has done exeptionally well since way back when dirt was invented, he's kinda old you know. He will respond here as well and let you know what # and brand he uses I'm sure. There are some jigging articles on this site written by Steve you should read that will help as well.
