Posts: 202 Location: Angola, IN | I just got this reel. It's only available in Japan. It's an upgrade from the 400TE. Does anyone else have one?? This thing has 9 bearings and is machined to weigh less than a regular 400TE. It also has bigger gears in it, so it's even smoother. It was very expensive and it was an impulse buy, so I'm looking to see if anyone has any experience with this reel. There is a picture of a 300TE Conquest at this website if you want to see it: http://www.plat.co.jp/english/bass/shimano/conquest300.htm Steve Hulbert Edited by Phishin 2/14/2003 10:32 AM

Posts: 2089 | Steve, A friend of mine picked up 2 off e-bay last year and they've been flawless. My only concern was the ported sideplate. Opportunity to get dirty.(which I guess isn't all that bad under certain circumstances!!!)You should be happy with your purchase. How's the trolling rig coming? You gotta post some b4 and after photos. Steve

Posts: 202 Location: Angola, IN | Hey Steve Jonesi, About the side plate, there is no chance of dirt getting in there because there is a clear crystal on the inside...it looks like there is nothing there, but there is a barrier to prevent dirt and crap from getting in there. The trolling rig is coming along great. I still have a little ways to go. I still need to put the new floor in, install the Pursuit trolling system, and buy a new sonor. But it should be ready in a month or so. Just today, I got some Diawa 47LC's in the mail. Got a great deal on them off Ebay....brand new for $40 a piece. I just got some pictures developed on the rig so far. When I get the boat done, and all the pics ready, I'm going to create a website documenting the whole project. I learned so much on this project. Everything I'm fixing on this boat, I'm doing it right. So it's taking a little time. But she will be one sweet rig when it's done. Steve Hulbert

Posts: 938 Location: NeverNever Lake | Looks awesome, 42.750 yen= 355 us. Sounds like a great deal. Shipping ? I didn't think it was possible to improve this reel. It redefined the word "free spool" and "total efficiency".............................RAZE

Posts: 182 | Steve, I bought a 400 TE off of E-bay last season. Now I can't fish with anything else. I purchased a 250 TE GT (almost the same as the conquest) a few months ago. Had a chance to throw some jerkbaits in the swimming pool with it last month. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!! Can you say SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH? I think you have just spoiled yourself, congratulations!
