Location: Alsip, IL | Looking to fish a little more often down south next spring since I won't have the time to go up to the north woods as much. Shelbyville will be my focus. I know their is a fantastic fishery below the dam but I'd like to try my hand at landing them in the lake. Can any of the guys chime in on here that fish it.
When the ice is usually gone if any? What structures you're targeting? Casting or trolling? Curiosity has me, just started fishing Illinois muskies and never realized what great fishing we have. Always thought I had to drive 6 hrs north. Any good literature out there on fishing illinois for muskies?
Thanks guys

Location: Perryville, MO | There are some other guys on M1 that can offer better advice than me on fishing Shelbyville. As far as literature concerning IL lakes, Al Nutty's "Kinkaid: The Reel Deal" is a fine introduction to Kinkaid. I think R & H still carries it. Some stuff will certainly cross-over and be helpful to understanding Shelbyville. That said, as little as I've fished it for muskie, it's been a tough lake for me. I'm thankful Kinkaid is closer to home for me anyways! |

Location: Alsip, IL | Yea kinkaid is a bit of a hike for me. I'll have to look for that book though. I promised myself I'd devote some time next year to shelbyville and the fox chain and I figured there would be some guys on here that have a lot of knowledge on those bodies of water. One day I'll take the trip way down south. Thanks for the reply. |
