| Anyone have one of these yet? What are the main differences in features when compared to the Minn Kota I-Pilots?
From what I can tell, looks like they both have a position anchor option, heading lock, speed control and route retrace. I think the Minn Kotas can follow a depth contour line but I'm not sure if the Motor Guide will do that. |

Location: Otsego, MN | Not sure if true but I heard the motorguide is much faster to respond when turning than the minnkota is. Looks like a great motor but there seems to always be bugs that need to be worked out in new products. Probably have to wait until next summer to get some quality reviews. |

| I got a chance to see a pre production in action on a crappy windy day. I presently have a Terrova and will be switching to the Xi5 Motorguide. It is faster, quieter turning, anchor mode works better, it has 2 heading compasses in it one on the head and one in the base these work together to track much better. Foot pedal is simliar to the old Pinpoint foot pedal like a cable drive. It will integrate with the Lowrance Gen2. The Stow bracket actually will lock into place and wont deploy in waves (had my terrova deploy the shaft breaks). What else foot pedal is wireless and it operates at a different frequency for better range. |

| My dad's boat has a Minn Kota motorized steering motor and it is really slow to turn, drives me nuts when I try to run his motor. That was the main reason I selected cable steering when I bought my boat.
I have read the advertising claims that the Xi5 turns a lot faster than the Minn Kota's. I have a Motor Guide Tour Edition trolling motor now and it is by far the best motor I've ever owned.....or used. My friend's always comment that my motor is quieter than theirs when they fish with me.
Planning to order a new boat next year, maybe I'll give the Xi5 a try. |
