| Has anyone tried the Newer Cold Water Okuma Line Counters? they look to be a nice reel I was looking at them yesterday and they make 3 sizes and in a Left hand retrieve models. Not expensive at all, I would like some feedback on tgis reel if anyone has been using one. Thanks would like to replace my Diawa Sealines Thanks Mike Jr |

| Have 1 and I like it. Loud clicker, good drag. I have the size 30 in the right handed version. I haven't had it long so that is all the info I have. |

| i use the 203DLX, i have about 150yds of 80llb PP on it. this is my first season using it, and no complaints at all.
feels very solid, no problems with the linecouter accuracy, caught a few mid 40's muskies, and a nice 9lb walleye on it this year.

Location: Planet Meltdown | Picked up two a couple weeks ago and love them. Loud clicker and they are a really solid reel. The star drag is easily adjusted as needed after hook ups. I set my drag pretty loose and I caught three muskies yesterday. I was really impressed with how easy it was to adjust the drag. Well worth the money. |

I spend a lot of time trolling and put my reels thru a lot. I bought a few coldwaters this past spring and I am not impressed at all. Drags are sticky along with linecounter problems. Went you let line out and reel back in they do not go back to 0 a lot of the times. I sent them back to have drags checked and linecounters fixed and they still seem very sticky. The drag pressure is not consistent. I could tell up clair when I got fish using it on a board rod that it was sticking. Switched it out for the penn and no more problems. The older convecters were one of the best for the money before they changed them. Tekotas are great accept for the clickers are quiet. The new catalinas are nice but pricey. The new penn 320 linecounters are nice. Been running one all year to test it out and it seems very solid. I would suggest the penns or try and find some older convecters from 5 years ago and rebuild the drags. My convecters are going on there 7th year and the only thing I've done is replace drags and the linecounter on a few of them.

Location: pittsburgh, pa | yes, they acted up right out of the box. sent back two different times to have repaired and came back with the same problems. I dont understand why they had to change the original convectors. i have 6 of them that i used and abused and are still going strong. Caught hundreds of muskies and king salmon on them and never had a problem. the penns are nice so far but time will tell. i wish they made the tekotas with louder clickers but they dont. when u have the top, side curtains, and drop curtain on in december they are almost impossible to hear.

Location: pittsburgh, pa | And also the clutch spring went on both of mine. seems like they are to tight and come apart. When your on fish up Clair you try to let line out and nothing happens you wouldnt be happy that you have to switch out a reel in the middle of a frenzy. |

Location: pittsburgh, pa | i would suggest getting the convectors in the 30 size. I know a few people that have got them recently with no problems. about 3 years ago they changed something in them and had some problems. that may be the same for the coldwaters. Maybe they are fixed now. |

| Is their a good lefty Abu Garcia with a loud line out clicker that someone could recommend.....I know there are some that are better than others....I was thinking of maybe just marking my line with 10' increments of brightly colored thread Orange, Yellow, Red, Chartruese, etc ....I went out the other day for a few hours and my buddy had two of two new coldwater 203 series and the latch that you release to let the line out were both loose and the line counters unless you double checked were staying on 000 .....you had to double check the counter to be sure it was working while letting the line out....

Location: pittsburgh, pa | The problem you will come across with the abus is the cranking power bringing in baits. Its just not there compared to an actual trolling reel. I really thing you would not be dissapointed with the convectors in the 30 size. Before line counters we would count passes on the levelwind or mark our line with a sharpie every ten feet. but when trying to control the boat and do other things the last thing you wanna be doing is checking for marks on your line. |
