I can hear and feel air coming out of the tip of my telescoping rod while opening or closing it. The last time I used he rod it was fine. I can't see any cracks. Is there something in a rod that could cause this and the rod not be broken or is it done?

As you expand or collapse a telescoping rod, air has to be able to get in and out. You may be hearing air move through the open end of the tip top. Larger tiptops have a hole in the very end where they sleeve over the tip of the blank. Air may be moving the length of the blank and out of the tip. You may be hearing it now more than before if some kind of obstruction is partially blocking the hole. If there was any kind of crack in the blank itself, it would snap under load.

Thanks Jeremy. I have four of these rods and have never heard this noise. I will put a reel back on it and see if it snaps. If not, I'll put her back in the rotation.
