| I'm thinking I've found my next rig...the boat, a Lund Alaskan, is exactly what I'm looking for ...but I don't know too much about the motor, which is a 2005 Merc 50. I'm a lifelong Johnson/Evinrude guy and know less than zilch about Mercs, much less this particular motor. Any input would be much appreciated! |

Location: Hayward WI | I had a 2002 50hp Merc, 3 cylinder that ran without problems for 6 years, changed plugs, lower unit lube and the impeller, otherwise never missed a beat. The one recommendation I have is to run non-ethanol gas in it. The motor ran at idle speed and trolled much better when using non-ethanol.

Location: Wisconsin | I have an 88 Classic 50, which is really a 45HP. It is a 4cyl engine and has been very good to me. Wish it had a bit more power, but my boat is really to heavy for it. Only failure has been the impeller and the oil injector system, which I just dumped and now mix gas in the tank. I think yours is the 3 cyl version?? |

| I have owned a 2003 50 horse elhpto 3 cyl 2stroke since day 1,
great motor, only problem I ever had with it was I burned up a voltage regulator (rectifier) other than that runs great!
I "2nd" not running ethanol in it.
