Posts: 335 Location: Pulaski, WI | Looking at some boats for a possible uprade. One has a hotfoot. Never used one, pro's & con's? Thanks, John

Posts: 134 | I have ran a hot foot for the past 20+ years, they are great for running and navigation. They do however stink for trolling. With hand throttle you can set it and forget it. Hot foot it comes back to idle once you move your foot off. All in all every boat I have has either had it at purchase or I added it later.

Posts: 218 | I had one on 2 boats. It was great on small Wisconsin sized lakes up to 5,000 acres or so. However, it was horrible on large water like LOTW. A 25 to 30 mile ride home gave me big time leg cramps. It requires much more pressure on the pedal then a car or truck does, and there is no cruise control.

Posts: 865 | ???????? the Hotfoots I have used in the past all had a Bar that prevents you from having to keep your foot on the button...You just flip the bar on the button and it stays on until you kick it off...No problems at all

Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | I also had one on the LOTWs and didn't care for it. Biggest problem was when it was rough and I had to keep my foot on the pedal. This prevented me from keeping my legs under me and hitting my bottom on every wave. I would guess it would depend on the lakes you fish and if you fish in rough water and make long runs. I took mine out after one year. Doug Johnson
