Why are you guys mad when you pull up to the launch only to see there is a tournament going on? If its that big of a deal, tournament schedules are usually posted online... not to mention most lakes that hold tournaments are fairly large... if the lake is smaller, go back to your roots as a young buck and realize the potential for learning and the entertainment of watching others catch fish is there for you to witness.

First off, most muskie fisherman don't frequent the interwebs.
Second, if someone wants to watch someone else catch fish, they'll do it from the comforts of their living room on their tv. Nobody drives 3-6 hours to watch a muskie tournament, and most guys only get 2 or 3 weekends a season to fish.

I can see both sides of this. I'm disappointed when I see two trailers at the landing on the lakes I usually fish. Not because of the pressure necessarily, but because I like to be alone.

But anybody who drives 3-6 hours to fish and just so happens on a tournament?? Whether you "frequent the interwebs" or not, that kind of makes you an idiot...

What is stopping them from fishing?

EA, how many muskie fisherman are there?
How many users on all the muskie websites combined in any given day?
Do the math. Remember the MN license fiasco? It was all over the interwebs any thousands of people were showing up in MN trying to buy a license.
bshep, nothing is stopping them. It just makes it suck. Metro tournaments are one thing, there's no expectation of privacy.
Tourneys in the North are another. Most people head up here to muskie fish with an expectation of some privacy and solitude, as EA noted.

Understandable. Luckily there are not many tournaments on secluded lakes up north and thousands of lakes to choose from later on down the road after discovering which lakes do host them.

Most people own a cell phone. Most smart phones require some kind of data plan now days. Fortunately for us and all the Muskie anglers in the world, Muskiefirst.com and other websites work perfect on a smartphone.

I am not a tourney fisherman per say but I do fish a few tournaments a year. I choose to do the tourneys that are the best balance of fun and value. Usually put on by a tavern with 100% payout. For example the Garrits lake view Kevin Worrall memorial. It costs $120 per boat. You get a hat, chicken dinner, raffle tickets and a lot of fun for the money. There are serious fisherman but it is a layed back atmosphere. With 125 boats the payouts are very nice. And the proceeds for the raffles go to the Ronald mc Donald house. Steve and the garrits have the right recipe for me.
