| Looking for a pounder rod and dont want to break the bank. I know many here are tackle industries fans, but has anyone tried throwing pounders with the 8'6" XHF muskie mojo rod?

Location: Minneapolis, MN | I've only thrown up to Mag double dawgs, so 10 OZ. I'm not sure I'd want to try a pounder on the rod as the mag double dawg seems to be a bit tough on it. I don't own any pounders so I can't actually test it for you. |

| I have this rod and did try throwing pounders with it a little bit this year just to see how it would handle them. The rod can throw them but there are definitely better options out there for the application in the same price range, especially if you are looking to throw pounders for any significant amount of time. |

Yes we all know it's a great rod, I'd love to have one. But for a lot of people it kind of breaks the bank, which the OP said they didn't want to do. |

Location: Hayward, WI | The 9' XH TI CAN throw pounders but it's too light for a dedicated Pounder rod. I also have the TI XXH and it does a nice job of throwing them for a good price. |

I recently had the same dilemma myself. needed a rod to throw pounders, but versitile enough to handle other baits (as I don't have $300 to spend on a rod that I only fish once a year) ended up buying a 9' xxh rod full cork bait caster from tackle industries. price is right, action is right, lure weight is right, just waiting to receive it and try it out...

Curious. How can you AGREE that it's a great rod for Pounders when you have admittedly never even used it?
Personally, when I've actually used one, I thought the TI XXH felt too soft for Pounders. Other people like them though, to each thier own. |
