Anyone have tips for fishing jigs? I hear a few of the more seasoned guys in my club talk about them a lot. Sometimes I feel like I could produce a bite on tough days if I stuck it out and fished the weeds with jigs. Do you swim them through the weeds or drop and reel? What kinds of jigs/trailers do people use and do you use a leader? I feel like the times I have tried them I get weeds stuck on the leader. Any help is great.

If you search youtube there are some good videos of bondy baits which are a jig type bait for musky.

Huge difference between vertical jigging and fishing a jig.

My first 50 and quite a few more came on jigs.

Great article. Thanks for the feedback. This is what I was asking about, jig fishing in the weeds, not vertical jigging.

Hey Steve, Do you know of anyone that makes a +10" creature that floats? I have ideas!

Yes, jdsplasher. He can make what you want. Builds nice creatures with cork in the tails. Do you want the entire creature to float? That could be done, but it would be hard to get it to float level and upright.

I think the biggest paddle tail I pour is about 8.5-9". I also have a flipp-in tail wangler creature that stretches to about 9"...also I do have cork that can be put in tail from 1/4-1/2 inch size.

BUT, there is a plastic now that has air bubbles in , that will certainly make your large plastic creatures float...  And probably very even...  :)  I used to take a hypodermic Needle and inject air in plastic as it setup... The crazy things we do to catch these fish.:)

I probably could get the maker of the Hellkat to make a floater. That's a big creature
