Posts: 37 Location: Freedom, WI | Abu Garcia is releasing new models of the 6500 and all the other reels. http://www.abugarcia.com/forlife http://www.tackletour.com/reviewicast13abugarciaround.html And here's a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HQDZecUF5s My question is should I wait for the new line of reels to come out, available to ship sometime in September according to Gander Mountain, or buy the c3 now? The 6500's now are good, but will the new ones be better?

They will probably sell for half the price of the new C models, if price matters to you. The main problem of the C series are the anti reverse, and it's relatively weak gears(though just as durable than Shimano's gear of simular size). But a seccond anti reverse dog can be added, wich turns the C's, into a very strong reel for jerkbaits, plastics, and classic bucktails. The new gears and handles are very interesting, might order some for my old C's.

Posts: 37 Location: Freedom, WI | yeah, I never thought about the old models going on sale. Maybe I could even get a record for about the same price as the 6500's now.

I doubt you'd notice much difference between the lighter spool and line guide, especially not with musky baits. If you like the reels, buy a few when they go on sale and be happy with the deals, is my suggestion.
