I can't remember where I've see this before but why would someone do this?

Easier to pull?

Different sound in the water?

I searched but couldn't find anything.

Single bladed baits actually have a more pronounced thump than doubles do. Totally different vibration and thump in the bait. sometimes if doubles aren't showing me fish i'll put on an eagle tail (single bladed deer hair) and start seeing fish. Also much easier to pull. You should own both, but like every bait or tool, each has its place for different circumstances

is there really a difference between say a single bladed cowgirl and a MM Cyco spinnerbait that uses a #10 blade as well? yes it's not inline but it should produce the same thump shouldn't it?

I'm stuck waiting for my kiddo and reading this on my phone. I click on this thread and Steve's cowgirl is the first thing to show on the screen. I wondered if I clicked the wrong bookmark...

I unfortunately have misplaced my 1 single bladed cowgirl. I broke up with my other cowgirl a year ago.

I make single 12's and single 10's.  They are more of a thump than whirl.  Along with easier to retrieve as well, you won't need to ice your arms down at the end of a day.

Are you saying the whirl comes from a double balded 10/12 or from a spinnerbait with a 10 blade on it?

Bucktail double. I will actually be out tomorrow on water, I'll shoot video of a single 10, 12 and a double for comparison....

Something that I have tried and is pretty cool. If you ahve a GoPro. Have someone hold in under the water pointed at said bait. while you drive the boat and hold the rod with the bait in the water. Depending on how fast, you should be able to slightly here the difference in vibration, through the cameras audio. There will be a little bit of outside noise (kinda sounds like wind, even though under water).

Thanks for the tip, I will try that. I shot a bunch of videos before and just took out the sound of the water. Here is a double 10 underwater....

I won a bid on ebay last year for 3 D13's for around 6bucks. Huge blades to say the least. Its like a trolling motor going through the water on high speed. I had one nice fish follow on one and hit at the boat taking a blade with it. I was like o man, but since that blade is gone I can tell you this, that bucktail really thumps now. I've had more action on this bait since loosing the blade. The other two D13 dont get much time on the water.

Plus, I've bent blades on the double cowgirl before, to the point i couldn't get it back in rthym with the other......just cut it off and you have a single blade thumper.
