9.9 johnson 4 stroke, been sitting idle for a month, I start It at least once a week.

Today, I started it and noticed black stuff coming out of the prop exhaust with the water from the hose.

Engine seems to be running fine, I was just wondering what this is? concern??

thanks, rob

Rob, I don't think it's anything serious. I had a Johnson 60hp tiller (injected) that used to do that, especially after start-up from winter storage. I assumed it was fogging oil.

That motor ran great, never a problem. But, occasionally I had to wipe that stuff from the skeg.

Hiya,

Nothing to be worried about at all... It is just exhuast build up that has built up and is now draining out... totally normal...
